TV Guide

  • 11am -  Guided Meditation

A special animated musical introspection for self isolation. We invite you to come reflect with us on the outside from the inside. Guide: Maya Holm, Visuals by Loaf Baker and music by Sabriel's Orb (Inner Islands)

  • 11:15am-12pm - Fault TV Music Videos

We miss the times when we had only one music channel and a series of video clips were running one after the other. As a tribute to old-school television we’re broadcasting an hour of video clips featuring local and international artists presenting some of the best visuals seen in recent years.

  • 12-1pm - Pirate TV with Matt Black (Coldcut)

You might not think you know Matt Black, but you probably know Coldcut, the groundbreaking duo who expanded the reaches of hip-hop and redefined what was possible with DJing. Even if you don't know Coldcut, you probably know Ninja Tune, one of the most successful (and longest running) independent record labels in the world. And if you know either of these two projects, then you know Matt Black: he's one half of Coldcut and co-founded Ninja Tune.

When the whole world went into lockdown, Black had just released a new iPad app for music-making, Jamm Pro. He decided to use it to stream performances under Pirate TV.

Black’s experience as a streamer goes way back to when the internet was still in its infancy. Him and his Coldcut partner Jonathan More first used the Pirate TV name back in 1999 for a series of primitive live streams using RealPlayer when most of the world still used dial-up modems.

As part of the return of Pirate TV, Black will join Fault TV for an extended hour of live music production on his Jamm Pro app.

  • 1-2pm - Congo Beat The Drum - The Documentary

Two musicians from Tel Aviv travel to Jamaica to record an album with forgotten reggae artists from the past. The film follows Kalbata (Ariel Tagar) and Mixmonster (Uri Wertheim), from their basement studio in Tel Aviv, all the way to the Kingston ghettos, looking for their favourite singers of days gone by. In Jamaica, they encounter a strange, often challenging culture while trying to achieve their goal. A unique musical journey into the forgotten corners of reggae of the seventies and eighties, and a rare glimpse into the smoky, dusty world of Rub-a-Dub and its past champions.

  • 2-2:15pm - A Cocktail hour at Bar Shiru.

Inspired by some of Tokyo’s incredible hi-fi bars and motivated by the lack of a comparable offering in the Bay Area, Bar Shiru is the first hi-fi vinyl listening bar in the area focused on jazz as the musical jumping off point. Bar Shiru features records played in their entirety on an analog, vinyl-centric sound system in a space built with acoustics as a top priority. On this show we invited the owners, Dan and Shirin to teach us how to make some of Bar Shiru's top cocktails.

  • 2-3pm Inside the Album: Otoño with James Wavey

Otoño is the work of Oakland based artist Michael Bridgmon. aka Alleyes Manifest. This Alleyes Manifest release comes under the artist’s James Wavey persona - a character that pays tribute to the music of the past and present. Originally self-released in 2018 as a digital only album, this year we saw its first vinyl edition released on Jim’s Pool Room and Oakland’s Econo Jam Records. In a short interview that was conducted at Bar Shiru, we followed the story behind the album while delving into Bridgmon's personal musical journey.

  • 3-4pm - When the Party Stopped: How 2020 Changed the Bay Area Music Scene.

Since early March the party has literally stopped; and has devastated the music events industry. How has this impacted beloved venues, artists, and events professionals in the bay? And what does this mean for the future of San Francisco’s nightlife and culture?

We sat down with folks from our local community to answer these questions and more. Join us for a lively panel discussion with Ardalan (Dirtybird Records), DJ M3 aka Manny Alferez (Monarch / Great Northern), Emma Marcus (APE/ RedAlert). Hosted by Femmelectric.

  • 4-5pm - Fault TV Music Videos

Enjoy a music-video selection by some of the hottest talents of the Bay Area.

  • 5-6:30pm - The Great Movie Mix by DF Tram.

The Great Movie Remix” is a mix of audio, video, movie themes, film promos and soundtracks into a seamless mix or "movie". Featuring the mysterious music producer DF Tram, this video experiment is a montage celebration of music and cinema.

  • 6:30-8pm Sunset DJ Set by Sinéad (Powered by Soundboks).

Sinéad, a Fault Radio favorite, will be closing out the telly with a sunset set. Her residency on Hyde Fm has created an interest in a broad range of sound, new and old. Expect 90s kick drums, uplifting vocals, heavenly house pads to sooth your soul, and maybe even a little acid ;). Sinead’s love for music never stops and is ever changing. Were excited to see where she takes us for the first edition of Fault Tv. Powered by SoundbokS.
