Fault Radio Talks: A Conversation with Josh Cheon (Dark Entries)

September 01, 2020

Interview by Brennan Ko

We finally have the opportunity to release our podcast interview with Dark Entries Records' founder - Josh Cheon - held in the Tenderloin neighborhood at RS94109 record store. Josh Cheon is one of the early members of Honey Soundsystem (@honeysoundsystem) and the head of Dark Entries Records (@darkentriesrecords), a label based in San Francisco that re-issues out of print and unreleased music from the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s, as well as contemporary artists. He is originally from New Jersey and grew up exploring New York and taking trips to Pennsylvania where he was exposed to goth rock and other alternative genres.

His journey from a kid growing up in New Jersey to joining Honey Sound System and founding Dark Entries in San Francisco are his unique qualifications for being an authority on DIY enterprises.

In this interview session, we will explore not only his story, but Josh’s perspectives on the importance of having a DIY mentality, his life in San Francisco, and how his experiences have shaped what he does today.

This conversation was recorded on June 4, 2019.
