NICE NUMBERS 03 | STAFF PLAYLIST

We launched a new website so we decided to create a special playlist for it. Check out our staff selection. Playlist by Patrick, Brennan, Dor, Dundee and Cody.

8月のボサ | ADVANTAGE LUCY (EASTWORLD)

Discovered while going on a Pizzicato Five-led tangent. I'm not sure what the lyrics mean, but maybe that is part of this feather-weight song's charm. - Patrick.

FAR EAST DIMENSIONS | PIERO PICCIONI (EASY TEMPO)

The soundtracks of Italian cinema are an endless well of inspiration. I remember coming across this one at my time at KALX! - Patrick.

RED SAILS | CHINA CRISIS (VIRGIN)

For that magic hour when the bay turns orange. -Patrick.

WHAT ABOUT THIS LOVE | MR. FINGERS (ALLEVIATED RECORDS)

From the guy who made house music DEEP- Larry Heard ladies and gentlemen! This is one of those tracks that a DJ can pull out at 4 in the morning, that can bring a crowd to a certain mood you see only in the rarest parties. And most importantly because WHAT ABOUT THIS LOVE? - Dundee.

THE DETROIT UPRIGHT | PATRICE SCOTT (SISTRUM RECORDINGS)

This is my go-to track - saves me every time! -Dundee.

THE SWEETEST TABOO | SADE (EPIC)

Every day is Christmas, and every night is New Year's Eve. -Dundee.

ASTRAI PALMS | MARCEL LUNE (LOCAL TALK)

Marcel Lune is a name that is still relatively unknown despite him putting out 2017's best contemporary electronic music album (at least I think so). The sounds and textures on his Astral Palms LP are some of the most unique and inspired synth based house music I have ever heard. To put it simply nobody else sounds like this producer, which is a rarity these days. Plus you can dance to every track. A clear winner in my book.-Brennan

NOT THAT LOVELY | SALAMI ROSE JOU LOUIS

An Oakland based artist that turns peanuts into gold. She is well known in the Oakland scene and with a performance at last year's Coachella she is finally getting the recognition she deserves. Both her voice and productions are silky smooth, like a lullaby that wraps you up in a blanket of warm fuzzy feelings. Check out her releases on Berkeley based label, Hot Record Societe. -Brennan

GONNA GET OVER YOU | BEVERLEI BROWN (DOME RECORDS)

I have extreme anxiety about sharing this track because its been my secret weapon for a while. Beverlei Brown is one of those artists that quietly slipped into obscurity, but left behind some real gems for those who know where to look. An uplifting blend of R&B and house influences that can get even the people standing on the fringes of the dance floor shaking their hips.  As the Youtube description says, "good music will never die." - Brennan

IS MUSIC | DWIGHT TRIBE & THE LIFE FORCE TRIO (NINJA TUNE)

I came across this album while working for Coldcut, this elegant mix of hip hop and spiritual jazz has been hitting the spot for me, and the lyrics are like a personal anthem of mine. Love is Music. Peace is Music. -Dor

I LOVE MUSIC | AHMAD JAMAL TRIO (IMPULSE)

No comment - I Love Music. -Dor

PLACES & SPACES | DONALD BYRD (BLUE NOTE)

Being on a constant hunt for locations feel really in tune with this one - Places and Spaces. -Dor.

FACES DRUMS | STEVE POINDEXTER (MUZIQUE RECORDS)

One of my favorite tracks! An incredibly jacking workout that is purely drums and 1 small vocal sample. It can go on forever. Turns out you can just throw your synths out cause  they proved all you really need is a drum machine. -Cody

SUSO SAIZ | TIERRA MEDIA (GRABACIONES ACCIDENTALES)

Suso Saiz rules, I love everything they do. The song has these beautiful plucking fm-sounding dancing with a guitar, meanwhile you have these little synthetic voices popping in like digital toads under lily pads. The whole vibe is amazing. -Cody

PRESENT IT’S A STRUGGLE | JUS ED & MOVE D

Two huge inspirations of mine, both on the same track with the best music video. The track unfolds so well under Jus Ed’s vocals. -Cody.
